If it rains brings you luck

For the life of me I can't figure out why they say- if it rains on your wedding- you will have good luck throughout your marriage.

I think it makes it messy- and ruins pictures.

What does everyone else think of this one?

If also heard this saying too.I'm not sure exactly why they say that though.

It rained on my wedding day.Mainly it sprinkled through the night, and drizzled a little that morning.It cleared up by the wedding and you never new it rained.The weather was perfect.My friend had thunderstorms the night before her wedding and rain on the day.It drizzled a little more that day but it was got windy more then anything.

I think it's more that it's ironic that it would happen.Maybe another obstacle to overcome together.I'm not sure though.

I looked into this superstition a while ago, and I actually found out a lot of things that make sense. First, my family believes this too and I have been to plenty were it has sprinkled and then been beautiful for the rest of the day so it was considered a good thing.

Now for what it all means and why it is a good thing. Apparantly, it is supposed to mean that the relationship and marriage will be a strong one since a wedding is referred to as tying the knot and everyone knows that wet knots are hard to undo. So like a know, your marriage will be a strong one since mother nature has decided to bless it with water.

Also, water and rain has also been a sign of abundance and good fortune, rain makes the earth blossom and grow after all. So, your marriage being blessed with showers will be a boutiful one.

I think that is a wonderful explanation for it. I do not think I would mind the rain even having to run through it to get to the car but hopefully if we choose to hold it outside the rain will wait until before or after the ceremony.

Wow-- that makes a lot of sense... and I believe it more now too. I was thinking making it to the church with your hairdo still pretty- and not all wet and soggy!

Thanks for posting this.That is fascinating actually.I now know and understand this.It's a neat way to look at it too.Woo-hoo, here's to a strong marriage.Though I haven't had much good fortunate yet.I guess we have a lot of conteracting to do since part of my family is very unlucky.

Raining on your wedding day is also a good sign in feng shui. It brings abundance in your life. Of course, it shouldn't rain cats and dogs, it should just drizzle a little and stops just before your wedding ceremony. It is believe in feng shui that the rains wash away the dirt and signify a new beginning in your life.

I've read in some religions it is a sign of fertility. I have also heard that the best lighting for pictures is when it is overcast. Either way, I'm getting married... in Colorado... in July. Chances are it will be hot and sunny!

I have read about this exact topic. From what I have read, I am not really sure exactly how to answer this. To me, it raining on a special day for me, would make it so much better, because it is showing that something important is happening on that certain day. Plus, I do really well when it is raining. Raining always seems to put me in a good mood.

I am not really sure what it does to other people, but it does give me the sort of feeling that it is going to be my lucky day. I like it when it rains and I wish it had rained on my wedding.
