Bride Pays or You Pay

I am down here for my friend's wedding right now, which I am standing up in. I was planning on getting my hair, makeup and nails done, but I was going to try to get it done with someone I knew who would give me a deal.

I am already spending a crapload coming down for the wedding, buying all my stuff, hotels, food, gifts etc.

Yesterday the bride called to tell me that she booked one of the most expensive stylists in the city to come and do a home visit for the four of us in her home the night before the wedding and then in the morning. She didn't say anything about cost, so I didnt really think about it, but then she called back to say that the night before would cost $500 and $200 the morning of so to make sure I had my credit card.

First off, we could go somewhere and get all of this for a lot cheaper, and secondly, it is way too much.

Would you expect the bride to pay for something this extravagant or would you pay for it yourself?

That is incredibly rude of the bride to expect you to pay that much for hair and makeup. Especially without giving you any notice. If she wants something that extravagant, she needs to pay for it herself. I would never pay $700 for hair/makeup, or expect my bridesmaids to do so either. I don't even know what else to say...I'm flabbergasted.

It is usual for the bride to pay but if she didnt and you want it done then really you cant moan.
